Jessica Lynn Syring, 40, died March 22nd 2007 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota from an undetermined illness. She was preceded in death by her mother and her father, Patricia and Irvin Syring, and is survived by her brothers and sisters and their families: Carol Nash of Bridger, MT; Michel Taylor of St. Paul, MN; Denise Wheeler of Helena, MT; Stephanie Syring of Ormond Beach, Florida; Andrew Syring of Cody, WY and Jon Syring of Sheridan, WY. Jessie was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and moved to Montana when she was 5. She attended Wolf Creek Elementary School, Hawthorne Elementary School, CRA and Capitol High School. She received a degree in Anthropology from the University of Montana. Jessie loved Montana and considered it her home. She knew the location of every ghost town in Montana and on weekends she could be found exploring them. She collected Breyer horses since childhood and had an extensive collection. Jessie was very involved in model horse shows, where her displays and creations won many awards. She was a prolific reader and writer and enjoyed playing Dungeons and Dragons. She was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism. Jessie’s cats, Lynx and Taymet, provided her with many hours of entertainment and she volunteered at the Lewis and Clark Humane Society. Jessie was a 30 year cancer survivor. She was a positive, outgoing person and had many friends and acquaintances. She especially enjoyed her co-workers at the State and at Waldenbooks, where she worked part time. Jessie’s absence will be felt by many.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Jessie’s life will be held on April 15th 2007 from 1:00 -3:00 pm at 720 Laurel St. in Helena. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
